The integrated operation continue to clamp down on priority crimes in and around Gauteng. More than 900 suspects were arrested in and around Gauteng over the weekend.

During the operation in Ekurhuleni West Cluster 66 suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from dealing in drugs, murder, rape, domestic violence , possession of unlicensed firearms, drunk and driving.

Police in West Rand held roadblocks at hotspots, 156 suspects were arrested for crimes such as possession of unlicensed firearms, rape, murder and ten liquor outlets were closed.

Tshwane West Cluster members arrested twenty suspects. During the raid 2000 counterfeit CD’s were confiscated in Tshwane CBD, second hand dealers were fined for non compliance and nine illegal taverns closed and liquor were confiscated in the Olievenhoutbosch area.

In the Johannesburg North Cluster 278 suspects were arrested for various crimes including fraud, possession of drugs, rape, murder, drunk and driving. Other operations were conducted in Ekurhuleni Central Cluster, as well as Soweto East Clusters, where over 400 suspects were arrested.

As these joint operations gain momentum the authority of the state are reclaiming the streets of Johannesburg and counterfeit goods worth of millions of rand were confiscated.

The arrested suspects will appear in various Magistrates’ Courts soon.
