This coming Saturday 23 February 2019, would have been the 11th Birthday of Willemien Potgieter. On 1 December 2010, six black males brutally and violently attacked the Potgieter family on their farm Tweefontein, in Lindley in the Free State. During the horrific attack Willemien Potgieter (2) and mother Wilna were forced to watch the brutal slaying of father and husband Attie Potgieter who was stabbed 151 times with a garden fork and other gardening equipment. His body was left with the fork still in his throat. Willemien was then picked up by her blood covered feet and taken to the store room, she was then held up by her red hair and shot through the head and thrown in a box. Wilna was dragged through the house and executed with a gunshot through the neck.
These barbarians were hailed as heroes by a large black crowd who gathered at the bail hearing on Monday 13 March 2010. Two of them worked on the Potgieter farm and were reportedly paid R500 to help murder the family.
