Suspects aged between 40 and 54 are expected to appear at Kuruman Magistrate court on Thursday 9 January 2020, facing charges of fraud, theft and money laundering.

A former Kuruman bank employee, a Director at the Department of Public Works in Mahikeng and accomplices were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday in Limpopo and North West provinces respectively following an intelligence driven investigation by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigating Unit.

It is alleged that on 19 June 2016, the former Kuruman bank employee defrauded the complainant’s late father’s estate an amount of approximately R649 000.00 and was shared amongst the bank accounts of the suspects.

The main suspect facilitated the opening of fraudulent accounts and transferred the said amount of money accordingly.

All suspects are detained at pending their court appearance.
