Five Million Africans Get Free Dishes for Digital TV

The Communications Department will assist neighboring countries to acquire satellite dishes so they can follow SABC propaganda.

The government has announced a campaign to help mainly black South Africans, with dishes and appliances, enabling them to switch broadcast signals to digital.

A spokesperson for the Department of Communications, Solly Mokoetle apparently confirmed that the government will help five million black households with devices to convert broadcast signals. These measures are undertaken in preparation for the conversion from analogue to digital broadcasting in June this year. White viewers will have to pay for the conversion if they are interested in following the SABC.

Mokoetle said it was important helping residents on the borders of Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho first.
