Farm couple killed in Limpopo and farmer tortured

Johannesburg – A husband and wife were killed and a farmer tortured in two separate farm attacks in Limpopo, police said on Sunday. The bodies of a couple were found on their farm Merebank near Lephalale on Friday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said in a statement. Police found the bodies of the 69-year-old man and the 66-year-old woman after their relatives had been unable to contact them.

“A post-mortem will also be conducted soon which might shed more light on the cause of death,” said Mulaudzi.

The motive for the murders was not yet known.

On Sunday morning a farmer was attacked and tortured near Tzaneen. Two men, one armed with a firearm and the other with a knife attacked the 68-year-old farmer and demanded money.
