Home invasion: 3 killed 4 injured, 'Satan gang' members arrested

The relentless efforts by our police officers in tracking down the suspect allegedly involved in the triple murder and four attempted murders in a house Booysens Park was arrested by members of the Bethelsdorp Task Team.

It is alleged that on Friday, 2 November 2018 at about 21:20, three people were killed and four other persons injured when two unknown suspects kicked opened the door at a house in Capulet Street in Booysens Park and entered. The suspects were armed and approached a 26 year old victim and pulled a gold chain from around his neck. Two cellphones were also taken.

It is further alleged that the suspects then started shooting at the occupants inside the house. Deacon Van Rooyen(16) and Ruaan Willemse(8) were fatally wounded while Chadwin Calvert(17) passed away in hospital. Four other victims also sustained gunshot wounds. All the injured were admitted in hospital.

The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit (PE) are investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and armed robbery. During investigations, the 34 year old suspect was sought by police. The Bethelsdorp Task Team members were informed to assist in tracing the suspect. In the last 3 days several houses were searched however on 18 November 2018, while still searching for the suspect, they noticed a suspicious green Golf in Booysens Park and they stopped the vehicle.

The wanted suspect was found in the vehicle. The members also arrested another suspect (20) that was wanted for 2 other cases (Murder and Attempted Murder in July 2018 and Murder in September 2018 committed in the Bethelsdorp area). Both suspects were arrested and detained.

The suspects affiliated to the Satan gang will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 20 November 2018, in respect of their cases.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Ntshinga has welcomed the arrest of the suspects.

“Criminals must know that it is only a matter of time when they can enjoy their short term freedom because we will come after them. Committing such callous and senseless attacks on law abiding citizens will not be tolerated. We have been working around the clock in an effort to make a breakthrough in this case and with the assistance of our partners, the National Prosecuting Authority, we will make sure that these criminals are removed from society for a long time” added Lt Gen Ntshinga.
