Riaan Scheepers (62) a cattle farmer who on the 25th of November was attacked while on his farm in the Alexandria district in the Eastern Cape, died on Tuesday while still in the hospital.
Bianca Scheepers, the daughter of Riaan, told Maroela Media that he died yesterday afternoon.
Riaan who farmed for 27 years was severely assaulted on his farm. A farmer worker heard him scream and went to assist but was stopped by one of the suspects.
Both Scheepers and the worker were tied up and beaten. The suspects left with a cell phone, a firearm, and a bakkie. The bakkie was later found abandoned.
Scheepers was transferred to hospital and treated for several stab wounds to the head and a cracked skull. Scheepers remained critical and passed on yesterday.
Siphamandla Petse (24) was arrested on December 1, in connection with the attack on Scheepers and will appear in court.
