Since 15 July 2018, a little six year old girl was raped several times by her stepfather at Barkly East. The stepfather, the 32 year old suspect, at the time always told her not to tell anyone as both of them will be arrested.
The times when she were raped were when her mother was not at home or while she was drunk.
She eventually decided to tell her mother that went to the SAPS. A case was opened and investigated by the Elliot FCS Unit. The case was referred to the Grahamstown High Court and the accused was sentenced on 3 May 2019, to life imprisonment.
The Cluster Commander Col Matshediso Gezani commended the investigating officer Sgt Zamikhaya Sogiba on the professional investigation of the case and the good sentence received. Keep up with the good work!
