A policeman was shot while chasing a hijacked BMW in Philippi, Western Cape police said on Friday.
The 31-year-old officer was shot around 22:00 on Thursday. He is in a stable condition in hospital, said Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.
He is a member of the Western Cape Flying Squad.
Rwexana said police are investigating, but no arrests have been made yet.
