On December 15, 2015 just before midnight four heavily armed suspects with R5 and AK47 rifles bombed the ATM at the Engen garage on Rigel Ave, Waterkloof in Pretoria.
The blast was heard by officers of Hi-Risk Unit and SAPS.
One Police vehicle on his way to a complaint had no idea of the incident and was ambushed by two of the men with assault rifles hitting there vehicle.
They managed to get out of the line of fire and met up with Hi-Risk Unit vehicles that all heard the blast and gun fire and responded.
They returned to the garage and the suspects fled.
During the incident people were held up at the garage at gun point.
Nobody was seriously hurt.
Well done to the driver of the police vehicle who kept his head and saved the lives of his crew members.
