The ANC has acknowledged that PRASA, or the rail system in SA, has failed in the past decade. The government’s so-called strategy to rectify the rail transport crisis has also failed and something “drastic” is needed for Prasa get back on the “track”.
This is according to Blade Nzimande, the Communist Minister of Transport, who spoke on the matter this past weekend.
A task team will apparently try to get things in place within 12 months, and stagnant expansion of the system will last another 36 months.
