The women of Averly doing it together to create a better world

More than half of the core team at Averly, a new home-grown application for rental agents, property owners and tenants alike, are women. But that wasn’t intentional, says Zabeth Venter, CEO and co-founder. “We wanted the best, the most creative people possible. They just happened to mostly be women.”

A group of likeminded women (and some men) came together to launch a new platform for the property industry during Women’s month.

More than half of the core team at Averly, a new home-grown application for rental agents, property owners and tenants alike, are women. But that wasn’t intentional, says Zabeth Venter, CEO and co-founder.

“We wanted the best, the most creative people possible. They just happened to mostly be women.”

Averly uses technology and behavioural analysis to help identify excellent tenants faster. It digitises the rental application process and helps agents verify their gut feel about future tenants. It launched during Women’s month.

Apart from the CEO, the lead designer, machine learning expert, head of marketing as well as various other senior positions are held by women.

“Women can do anything that they put their mind to,” says Venter, who took the courageous leap from a decades-long career in corporate to launch Averly.

“Don’t be afraid to try something new; be brave and have confidence in your abilities.”

Raising a family should also not stand in your way, says the mother of two.

“It takes blood, sweat and tears, but it can be done with the right amount of determination.”

Not even the COVID-19 pandemic could derail the team’s ambition.

“Don’t think about hardships as obstacles, but rather another opportunity.”
