Across the Easter weekend, students from Crawford International’s Ruimsig, Fourways and Pretoria campuses took part in the esports arena at the Rand Show, hosted at the Nasrec Expo Centre. Running from Thursday to Monday, the event brought together teams of students competing in Minecraft and Fortnite, drawing strong interest from peers and families alike.
All three campuses were represented in the Minecraft division, where students worked together to solve challenges through collaboration and strategic play. The Ruimsig campus stood out in Fortnite, securing wins on both Friday and Saturday after an impressive run of performances.
“The atmosphere was fantastic,” said Boitumelo Nwandula, Admissions Consultant at Crawford International. “It was exciting to see our students taking part in something that genuinely interests them, while also applying the kinds of skills that will serve them well in future academic and career settings.”
The school’s approach reflects a broader commitment to preparing students for the realities of a digital economy. Esports offers opportunities to develop essential skills, while giving students a space to explore and lead in emerging fields.
