05 April 2023, Johannesburg: Leading retail brand, PEP is embarking on an exciting journey of positively impacting the lives of young girls across South Africa. The news came after PEP officially announced its partnership with South African Schools Netball (SASN), through the launch of the PEP mini Netball Festivals.

Trusted for well over 60-years for its loyal service to its ever-growing customer base across Southern Africa, PEP is now further extending its community reach to young girls, through an initiative that will see school’s netball receiving a much-needed boost.

The fun and educational festivals officially get underway in the Western Cape, Free State and Gauteng, affording thousands of girls between the ages of 8 and 10 an early introduction to the sport’s critical foundation skills.

The newly formed partnership sees PEP and SASN enhancing girls’ netball at a critical foundation phase.  Through PEP mini Netball, young girls have an opportunity to stand proudly and aim high, subsequently boosting their self-esteem and growing into the best version of themselves.

PEP Chief Marketing Officer, Beyers van der Merwe said the unique partnership with SASN marks the start of what promises to be a life-changing experience for young girls and more importantly, ties back to the brand’s key founding principles of accessibility and positive influence in communities.

“The PEP mini Netball Festivals are an exciting partnership for us at PEP. With our commitment to caring for the communities in which we operate, we believe we have found a sport and partner that shares the same ethos of encouraging self-belief in our communities”, said van der Merwe

“We are looking forward to working closely with our partner in laying a solid foundation for the development of school’s netball, while also holistically developing young girls with essential life skills that can also be used both on and off the court. We believe that the success of this partnership will not only be in developing talent, but empowering the next generation of girls into discovering what it truly means to be a champion”, concluded van der Merwe.

Welcoming the partnership was SASN President, Di Woolley, who said the valued partnership with PEP would bring about support to their mandate of comprehensively developing school’s netball across South Africa.

“The PEP mini Netball festivals are a great opportunity to lay a solid foundation for the future building blocks of the sport. To get children to play in a controlled environment is the first milestone to build a love for the game, for sustainability, and to boost the game at the highest levels. PEP has seen the positive contribution this concept can make in South African Sport, and for that we applaud the brand’s investment.”

The PEP mini Netball Festivals officially get underway on 15 April 2023 and will take place in schools in Gauteng, Western Cape and Free State.
