Ed-Tech: What the Future Holds

The following article has been inspired by the thoughts of Mr. Mayank Srivastava. He is the Founder of Experts’ Global, one of the world’s leading EdTech firms in the field of GMAT prep and MBA admission consulting

In the present day academic scenario, Education Technology, or Ed-Tech, or Edu-tech, as the concept is popularly referred to as, is a significant medium of revolutionizing the perception of education, across the globe. Although profound changes have already been effected in having done away with the outmoded academic system, Ed-Tech is a relatively novel concept and much of the path is yet to be traversed. Triumphing over the issues of economic and social marginalization, Ed-Tech holds the promise of spreading fine education to every corner of the country.

As the country awaits its education system to be molded by this disruptive phenomenon, I choose to closely consider few of the expected changes that will be occasioned by Ed-Tech in the near future.

What Suits You Best?

An education system catering to the pupils’ need to learn and grow should focus on identifying the different cognitive abilities each individual is blessed with. Each student is different, with specific learning needs, aptitude, and skills, and although the instructors are cognizant of these differences, creating custom curriculum for each student is practically not possible. Ed-Tech solutions will analyze each student’s response to training to help formulate the perfect learning material.

The Audio-visual Cue

Our intellectual faculty is said to respond well to graphic representation of events. Hence, Ed-Tech’s initiative of introducing video training in classrooms will be the smart move to ensure better utilization of class time in discussions. Promising to deliver only advanced training processes, Ed-Tech looks to roping in the help of field specialists to record these informative videos. Specialized lesson content, administered through interactive and interesting video sessions, will allow students to better employ their intellectual faculties: to grasp concept, to think, to question, and thus to learn to apply the concepts. Importantly, these discussions, saved by technology, will remain untarnished by time for several years. Renowned academic institutions are already adapting their curriculum to include this innovation.

Respite For The Educators

Educators live a life dedicated to the purpose of teaching and nurturing the cognitive faculties of the pupils. To ensure proper administration of instruction to the pupils, educators need to regularly invest quality time in researching the discipline. However, such miscellaneous chores as project grading, curriculum designing, etc. leave them with little time to spend in objective studying. Task automation, as promised by the customizable Ed-Tech facilities, guarantees the much needed respite to the educators. Significantly, the process of grading will receive a quality boost. While technology has already been resorted to serve the purpose of objective grading, AI tools, equipped with necessary cognitive faculties, will soon learn to grade even the subjective papers.

Use Analytics to Deduce Your Career-Choice

Ed-Tech hopes to code individual responses to deduce patterns in distinguishing skills and interest of a student. These assumptions can then be co-related with the aptitude of an individual for a given choice of career options, to understand if the skill-set and passion of the said individual concur with the particular career option. Such finely crafted Ed-Tech guidance, provided at crucial intervals in the academic and professional career, will be a revolutionary step indeed!

Knowledge Sharing and Collaborative Learning

Technology has already made the world a global village: information is not only easily accessible but also easily disseminated. Ed-Tech plans to capitalize on such advantages of information sharing and collaborative learning by taking the concept of inter-class learning beyond boundaries. The more knowledge is exchanges and discussions participated in, the more perceptions shall be broadened. With Ed-Tech tools, learning is soon bound to become interesting and creative.

Will Classrooms Change or be Obliviated?

The popular notion opines that with the advent of such efficient technology, classrooms will soon cease to exist. Indeed several technology enthusiasts argue against the need for classrooms in the era of Ed-Tech. In my personal opinion, I deem the notion of the classroom bereft academic scenario as overtly exaggerated. Ed-Tech is only the enabler of efficient means of imparting education, and cannot, thereby, substitute the classrooms altogether. Further, the social superstructure, comprising of our peers, juniors, seniors, and teachers, is essential to our skill-building and personality development. Instead of Ed-Tech obliviating classrooms, it is the institution, the classroom that will provide a platform for Ed-Tech to aptly function and to be duly utilized so that the technology meets out the desired benefit to the students, and, in effect, to the institutions. The classrooms will only be subject to change as the infrastructure will have to be re-vamped with cutting-edge tools allowing participation in more collaborative discussions.
