Curro Nelspruit Welcomes New Executive Head

The JSE-listed independent school group, Curro Holdings is thrilled to announce the appointment of Mr Nico Bronkhorst as the new Executive Head of Curro Nelspruit, effective 1 July 2024.

As a graduate of North-West University, Bronkhorst holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree with majors in Strategic Marketing, Human Resources Management and Strategic Management and brings immeasurable experience and expertise to the school.

The Mpumalanga native is a well-known figure within the wider Curro family, having joined the group as the Head of High School at Curro Bankenveld in January 2016. Under his tenure, the school saw significant improvements in academic performance and community relations, and by July 2018, Bronkhorst was appointed as the Executive Head at Curro Kathu, before later transitioning to Curro Nelspruit as Head of High School in October 2019.

Prior to joining Curro, Bronkhorst’s career in education commenced with lecturing Economics and Business Management at Pretoria Technikon and Tshwane University of Technology, before being promoted to Vice Principal of Cambridge Academy in 2006.

Bronkhorst’s approach to education extends beyond academics. He is passionate about extra-curricular activities and holds coaching qualifications in cricket, rugby, and athletics. His commitment to sports is reflected in his personal achievements, including completing two Comrades Marathons and playing provincial rugby for the Mpumalanga Pumas.
