On 2 September 2025, while admitted for monitoring via the ER due to blurred eyesight, unstable glucose, memory, and speech deteriorating… Angel endured a shocking and traumatic incident in hospital care. Despite being just steps from the nurses’ station, where two nurses were sitting and chatting, a male patient walked into the women’s bathroom while Angel was inside. While she was exposed, the man stared at her private parts, proceeded into the shower, exposed himself, and defecated in front of her while watching her.
Angel fled the bathroom in tears and reported the incident immediately to the nurses, who failed to do their job as they were more interested in their cell phones and conversation. When her mother arrived at the hospital, security staff knew nothing of the incident because it had not been reported. To make matters worse, a senior nurse attempted to discourage the family from filing a complaint, excusing the lack of supervision as “short staffing” and dismissing the man’s behaviour as that of someone “not in his right mind.”
“This is my daughter, a 23-year-old living with a brain tumour and a fragile medical condition. Instead of being protected in hospital care, she was humiliated, traumatised, and dismissed,” says Angel’s mother. “This level of neglect is beyond horrifying. It has added trauma to her already unbearable fight.”
Urgent Fundraiser Launched to Save 23-Year-Old Angel from Brain Tumour and Ongoing Hospital Neglect
South Africa – A young woman’s future hangs in the balance, and her family is pleading with the public to help. Angel, just 23 years old, is fighting for her life against a brain tumour that has stolen her health, her independence, and her dreams, while suffering at the hands of the hospital.
What started as severe headaches, vomiting, and blurred vision in 2023 was repeatedly brushed aside by doctors as “just migraines.” Angel endured months of misdiagnoses, unnecessary tests, and toxic treatments before the truth was finally uncovered by a second hospital: she had a tumour pressing on her pituitary gland. By then, irreversible damage had already been done, including an almost fatal brain bleed.
Angel’s tumour has left her with permanent adrenal failure, kidney problems, infertility, and a rare hormone disorder known as panhypopituitarism, meaning her body can no longer produce the vital hormones needed to survive. She now takes multiple medications daily, at precise times, to keep her body functioning. Missing even one dose could be fatal.
Her daily life has become a constant struggle. She lives with crippling headaches, swelling that makes her body ache, hearing loss, dizziness, and exhaustion so severe she often can’t fall asleep until 3 a.m.—only to wake early with pain and pressure in her head. She can no longer enjoy the simple freedoms that most people her age take for granted: going out with friends, pursuing a career, or planning a family. Instead, her days revolve around doctor’s visits, medications, and the looming fear of another emergency hospitalisation.
Angel’s Recent Medical Updates
6 September 2024 – Angel was rushed to the ER and immediately taken into the resuscitation room. Doctors attempted to access her carotid artery in the neck, and when that failed, they had to go through her femoral artery in the groin to prevent her from slipping into a coma or organ failure. Tubes were placed to deliver lifesaving fluids and medication before she was moved into the ICU (high care).
13 September 2024 – After a week in hospital, Angel was discharged into her mother’s care. Despite her worsening condition, doctors again refused to operate, placing her only on stronger medication and telling her to wait until December for her next appointment.
30 October 2024 – Angel was diagnosed with Addison’s Crisis, a life-threatening condition caused by acute adrenal failure. Without immediate recognition and treatment, Addison’s Crisis carries a high risk of death.
23 December 2024 – Angel was discharged from the hospital and is now living with panhypopituitarism, meaning she has lost the production of all hormones controlled by the pituitary gland—hormones essential for nearly every function in the body.
Why the Fundraiser Matters
Beyond her medical battle, Angel now carries the weight of trauma from the very place meant to keep her safe. Without urgent surgery and proper medical care, she faces permanent blindness, organ failure, and potentially fatal complications. With surgery, she has a fighting chance—not just to survive, but to reclaim her future. We know that due to her medical neglect, permanent damage has been done, even if she gets surgery, but at least we will be able to stop further harm and try to let her find a way to live some life.
- Angel is fighting every day to hold onto hope. With your support, she has a chance not just to survive, but to truly live.
- Every share, every donation, brings her one step closer to hope, healing, and a second chance at life. 🌹
