Ex-Lazada Execs’ Startup Bag Pre-Series B Round to Expand Across Southeast Asia

Intrepid Group, a Singapore-based ecommerce service provider, announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-series B funding round led by Thakral Corporation and Sun SEA Capital, an existing investor backed by Sunway Group.

With the new funds, the company plans to further expand its brands across the region and invest in technology to differentiate its services and software-as-a-service (SaaS), Intrepid told Tech in Asia.

Founded in 2017, Intrepid helps brands as well as small and medium-sized enterprises accelerate their growth on Southeast Asia’s ecommerce platforms, such as Lazada and Shopee. It offers both enterprise-grade SaaS and end-to-end management.

Intrepid claims that its monthly revenue jump 4x year-on-year as it expanded across Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and more recently, Malaysia.

It also tripled the number of international brands on its client list in one year, reaching over 50 across the region, including HP, 3M, Procter & Gamble, Kiehl’s, Luxottica, and Xiaomi.

In Q2 this year, the company launched PowerSell, a multichannel management SaaS. It enables brands and SMEs to boost their sales across the region’s ecommerce platforms through data analytics and automation tools, such as stock keeping unit decoration, stock sync, competitor price monitoring, and chat automation.

The software is now used by close to 10,000 brands and SMEs, with almost 1 million orders processed every week, according to a statement.

“We’ll focus on this ‘SEA one-stop shop’ approach, which we understand is very valuable both for brands already in Southeast Asia and for brands that want to enter Southeast Asia,” the company said.
