Guests at Crocworld Adventure & Conservation Centre were kept enthralled by PhD sea turtle researcher Natalie Dos Santos on Saturday, 31 October. Natalie, who has spent the past eight years working with sea turtles, gave a presentation outlining the ecological roles of turtles on reefs, and the work being done to better understand their origins, feeding behaviour and movements.

She also shared underwater footage of tagging turtles, and the findings of a study based at Aliwal Shoal Marine Protected Area on the KZN South Coast. One attendee, Ella Jacobs, commended Crocworld for the talk and noted the insightful staff, “We had a lovely tour of Crocworld with Thobani Msabala – he had so much knowledge about the animals and plants. It was a really great experience.”

The talk formed part of Crocworld’s Conservation Talk series, which welcomes researchers and conservation experts to share their knowledge with the public.
