BCX Attains a New B-BBEE Status

Today, BCX announced that it has attained a Level 1 B-BBEE Contributor Status moving up from the previous year’s result.

“In 2021, BCX was certified as a Level 2 B-BBEE contributor and set an ambitious goal of reaching B-BBEE Level 1 recognition status by 2023. Today, we are proud to have achieved a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor status and consider it to be a positive step in our transformation journey,” says Jonas Bogoshi, CEO at BCX.

To have achieved its Level 1 B-BBEE contributor status, BCX has deliberately improved upon most of the elements on the B-BBEE scorecard. To this end, the scorecard was driven as a strategic and operational imperative.

BCX has shown improved metrics across most elements of the scorecard. Specifically, in its procurement recognition level, which increased from 125% to 135% and achieved full points for Enterprise, Supplier and Social- Economic Development.

According to Bogoshi, “ Although BCX has moved the dial on Black Ownership(24.47%) and Black Women Ownership(14.84%), we acknowledge that more work is required in these areas.”

However, BCX was able to increase the representation of black females at the level of executive director which is an element of management control. BCX has achieved a Black female representation on this level from 0%  to 33.33%.

“As we have always said, the transformation agenda and social impact programmes should never be a tick-box exercise.  If we are to make a real difference toward reaching our socio-economic objectives as a country, corporate enterprises must implement socio-economic impact programmes that have a win-win for all stakeholders – enterprises, beneficiaries, and the country.  This current achievement is a reflection of our commitment to the transformation agenda in South Africa,” adds Bogoshi.

BCX is committed to increasing its current scoring as it continues to drive the scorecard as a strategic imperative. It will continue to implement social impact programmes that enhance the lives of its beneficiaries, whilst contributing to developments within the ICT sector through its skills development programmes for unemployed and employed youth.

BCX is grateful to all its employees, partners, and stakeholders for sharing in their vision of inclusivity and for travelling the transformation journey with them.
