LIMPOPO — A 32-year-old man is in police custody facing a murder charge following a Saselamani tavern murder that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old patron. The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Saselamani Periodical Court on Monday, 29 June 2026.

The fatal incident took place at roughly 01:30 on Sunday, 28 June 2026, at a drinking establishment in Mhingaville village, located within the Saselamani policing area of Limpopo. Police state that the victim and the suspect were consuming alcohol at the venue when a dispute broke out. The argument moved to the rear of the building, where the suspect allegedly produced a licensed firearm and shot the victim.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the suspect requested help to transport the injured man to Malamulele Hospital for emergency treatment. However, medical staff pronounced the 29-year-old dead upon his arrival at the facility.

Law enforcement officers promptly arrested the suspect at the hospital. The licensed pistol and ammunition allegedly used in the shooting have been confiscated by authorities and will serve as evidence in the continuing investigation.
