LIMPOPO — A comprehensive manhunt has been initiated by Letsitele police following the rape of a five-year-old girl in Mbhekwana village. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for the unidentified suspect responsible for the assault.
The incident was discovered on Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 10:00. The victim’s 37-year-old mother was washing clothes at their residence when she noticed bloodstains on the child’s underwear. When questioned about the incident, the child did not respond.
Knowing her daughter had been playing in the neighborhood the previous day, the mother immediately transported her to a local clinic. Following an initial clinical examination, medical staff referred the victim to a hospital, where a Medical Doctor confirmed that the child had been raped.
The matter was subsequently reported to authorities, and a case of rape was officially registered. Investigators are currently working on the matter, though the suspect remains unknown at this stage.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the act, assuring the community that detectives are pursuing all available leads to identify and arrest the perpetrator. She also commended the mother for acting without delay and seeking immediate medical intervention for her daughter.
Police investigations are continuing.
