TLHABANE — A 41-year-old man is facing a murder charge following a domestic fatal stabbing in Tlhabane that left his 35-year-old girlfriend dead. The suspect is scheduled to make his court appearance next week after the deadly altercation at the victim’s home.
The incident unfolded on the evening of Thursday, 18 June 2026. According to authorities, the couple was at the woman’s residence when a verbal dispute escalated into physical violence. During the confrontation, the man allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times. Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) responders arrived to discover the victim lying in a pool of blood. Despite their efforts, she was certified dead at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, the suspect reportedly attempted to escape the area but was intercepted by local residents. Community members apprehended and assaulted him before law enforcement arrived. Officers from the South African Police Service (SAPS) responded immediately, secured the perimeter, took the suspect into custody, and confiscated two knives recovered from the scene as evidence.
Due to injuries sustained during the citizen’s arrest, the 41-year-old was transported to a nearby health centre. He received medical attention for his wounds and was subsequently discharged back into police custody.
The accused has been formally charged with murder. He is slated to stand before the Bafokeng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 June 2026, for his first appearance.
