HIBBERDENE, KWAZULU-NATAL — A violent cash-in-transit heist near Hibberdene has left three security officers with moderate injuries after attackers used explosives to breach their armored vehicle. The brazen robbery unfolded along the N2 highway on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, triggering a rapid emergency medical response.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue, the emergency team was dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving distress calls regarding the armed robbery. Upon reaching the targeted stretch of the highway, paramedics discovered that an unknown number of suspects had deliberately forced the cash vehicle off the roadway.

In a reckless attempt to access the vault, the assailants detonated explosives while the three security guards were still trapped inside the cab. Despite the severity of the blast, all three officers survived the ordeal, though they were found to have sustained moderate injuries during the attack.

Emergency crews immediately moved in to triage the wounded personnel. The victims were successfully stabilized at the scene by the responding team before being urgently transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. To ensure continuous and critical care during the journey, an IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedic accompanied the officers in the ambulance.
