VAAL — A rapid, multi-agency response to a Vaal truck hijacking has culminated in the safe rescue of a kidnapped truck driver and the full recovery of the stolen vehicle and its cargo. The breakthrough occurred at approximately 09:00 when Fidelity ADT Vaal, working in tandem with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and allied security partners, received a tip-off regarding an abandoned trailer in the Mooiland area.
Upon immediate deployment, response teams established that the trailer was linked to a broader crime. Investigators confirmed that the trailer, which was hauling a shipping container filled with electronic goods and kitchenware, had originally been hijacked in Heidelberg. During that initial attack, the driver of the truck was forcibly abducted by the hijackers.
