Two alleged drug dealers were taken into custody and multiple illicit substances confiscated during a targeted law enforcement action carried out by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit under Operation Shanela II on Saturday, 30 May 2026.

The operation unfolded between 08:00 and 09:00, as police teams executed J51 search warrants in the Navalsig and Heidedal neighborhoods, acting on verified intelligence to disrupt drug distribution networks.

At a residence in Navalsig, officers apprehended a 45-year-old foreign national male after a search revealed possession of mandrax and cocaine. Authorities also seized an undisclosed amount of cash suspected to be proceeds from illegal activity.

The unit then moved to a second location in Heidedal, where a property search uncovered a significant quantity of crystal methamphetamine. Additional cash, believed to be linked to drug trafficking, was recovered. A 26-year-old local male suspect was arrested at this scene.

Both individuals remain in police custody and face formal charges related to drug dealing. Investigative work continues as authorities prepare dockets for prosecution. The suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court shortly.

The Provincial Anti-Gang Unit emphasized that operations of this nature form part of an ongoing, intelligence-led strategy to dismantle gang-affiliated criminal structures and reduce the availability of illegal narcotics in residential communities.
