South African Police Service (SAPS) members in Keimoes arrested two males, aged 43 and 18, on Thursday, 28 May 2026, following the recovery of illicit drugs with an estimated combined street value of nearly R300,000.

The arrests occurred at approximately 12:00 during routine crime prevention patrols in the Keimoes area. Officers encountered two suspected drug distributors and, after obtaining consent, searched the vehicle they were travelling in. Inside the vehicle, police discovered 64 Mandrax tablets concealed, with an estimated street value of R6,400. The two men were immediately taken into custody.

Following the initial arrest, SAPS members obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ premises located in the Curriescamp settlement in Keimoes. A thorough search of the property yielded a substantial quantity of additional narcotics: tik (methamphetamine) with an estimated street value of approximately R246,397 was recovered from one concealed location, and a further 300 Mandrax tablets, valued at approximately R30,000, were found hidden in another area of the premises.

A case of possession of drugs has been officially registered against the two suspects. The vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime has been seized by SAPS as evidence. Both suspects are expected to appear in the Keimoes Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face charges.
