A joint operation by the Provincial Community Policing Forum (CPF) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) Organised Crime Unit led to the confiscation of dagga valued at approximately R5,000 on the morning of Thursday, 21 May 2026.

According to CPF Board Chairperson, Mr Frans Kgasago, the seizure followed a tip-off from community members alleging that a suspect was selling dagga near the corner of Viljoen and General Maritz Streets in Polokwane.

Acting on the information, Kgasago and a member of the SAPS Organised Crime Unit located the unknown male suspect at a nearby park in Bendor. When the suspect noticed the officials, he fled on foot and evaded arrest. The officials recovered the dagga at the scene.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the community for the tip-off and praised the collaboration between SAPS and the CPF as essential in combating drug dealing. She urged continued public cooperation with police, stating that safer communities depend on unity, trust, and partnership between law enforcement and the public.

Police investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect.
