Man gets 18 years for murdering his girlfriend

The Springbok Regional Court has on Friday, 28 July 2017, sentenced 28 year old Frederick Paulus to 18 years direct imprisonment for murdering his then 29 year old girlfriend.

It was on 04 October 2015 when Paulus took the deceased for a walk on one of the mountains in Vaalwater Besig in Springbok. It was during an alleged dispute when and Paulus stabbed the deceased and left her for dead.

The decomposed body of the deceased was found four days later by the police after she was reported missing by her family.

Paulus was subsequently arrested and has since been in custody. He will serve 18 years direct imprisonment for murder and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The sentencing was welcomed by the family and the South African Police Service. The Cluster Commander of Namaqua, Brigadier Francis Hender lauded the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Jonas for his dedication and thorough investigation that ensured that justice prevails.
