The Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of 32-year-old Tumelo Godfrey Lesejane by the Bafokeng Regional Court in Tlhabane on Monday, 11 May 2026.
Lesejane was sentenced to 18 years of direct imprisonment after being found guilty of raping a 15-year-old victim at Sunrise Park. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm and ordered that his details be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders and the Child Protection Register.
The court heard that the incident occurred following a social gathering attended by the victim, her sister, and the accused. The victim was later taken to the suspect’s residence, where the offence was committed.
The case was investigated by Detective Constable Dikeke Mokebe of the Rustenburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, leading to the arrest of the suspect on 11 March 2024 and his subsequent successful prosecution.
Brigadier Ntoagae commended Detective Constable Mokebe and all role players for their continued commitment to ensuring justice for victims of gender-based violence.
