A 53-year-old man from Carnarvon has been sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment by the Carnarvon Regional Court on charges of contravening a protection order and crimen injuria.

The conviction follows an incident on 7 February 2026, when the accused, Ben Dakens, allegedly arrived at the complainant’s residence in Carnarvon, threatened to assault and stab her, and verbally abused her. Dakens reportedly accused his wife of taking his cellphone. The victim, who held a valid protection order against Dakens, contacted the police for assistance.

Dakens was arrested at the scene. After several court appearances, he was convicted and sentenced on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
