
Motseonageng Phakedi (29) was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ditsobotla Regional Court on 27 March 2026 for the rape of a 10-year-old child.
According to evidence presented in court, the incident occurred on 20 October 2018 in Mooifontein Village. The victim was playing with a friend when the accused approached them, produced a sjambok, and threatened the children. He chased the friend away before dragging the victim to his residence, where he raped her.
The matter was reported to police, leading to the accused’s arrest following thorough investigations. Phakedi pleaded not guilty on 28 January 2025 but was convicted on 24 October 2025.
