The Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a former Rustenburg Municipality employee to five years imprisonment for possession of stolen copper cables.

George William Nkedi (54), a former employee of the municipality’s infrastructure department, was found guilty following an incident reported in Phokeng during February 2025. He was found in possession of suspected stolen copper cables belonging to the Rustenburg Local Municipality.

 Nkedi was also declared unfit to possess a firearm
