A targeted intelligence-driven operation by the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) on Tuesday evening resulted in the dismantling of an alleged drug trafficking hub in the Kopanong residential area.

The operation took place on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, at approximately 20:00, when AGU members executed a search warrant at a specific residence believed to be central to local narcotics distribution.

During a thorough search of the premises, officers uncovered a significant consignment of illicit substances. The haul included a large quantity of Mandrax tablets and Crystal Meth, with an estimated combined street value of R65,000.00. In addition to the narcotics, members seized a substantial amount of cash, which is suspected to be the proceeds of criminal activity.

Two occupants of the residence, identified as a 30-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, were arrested on the spot. They face charges of dealing in drugs and are scheduled to appear in court in due course.
