A 26-year-old foreign national has been arrested near the Vioolsdrif border post in the Northern Cape following the discovery of hydroponic dagga valued at approximately R90,000.

According to police reports, the arrest occurred on the evening of Friday, 20 February 2026, during a random search operation. Officers stopped and searched a taxi traveling from Cape Town to Namibia.

During the inspection, law enforcement officials discovered the illicit substance concealed within the vehicle’s spare wheel compartment.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in court soon on charges related to drug possession. The value of the confiscated narcotics is estimated at R90,000.
