
A 22-year-old man from Keimoes in the Northern Cape has been sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Regional Court in Kakamas following his conviction for rape.
The court heard that the accused raped a 16-year-old girl at her home in Keimoes on Thursday, 22 December 2023.
The investigation was conducted by Sergeant Jurie Mokgalagadi of the Kakamas Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. According to authorities, the thorough investigation and dedication by Sergeant Mokgalagadi led to the guilty verdict and the subsequent sentencing.
In addition to the prison term, the convicted man’s name will be recorded in the National Register for Sex Offenders. He has also been declared unfit to possess a firearm.
