The Provincial Organised Crime Unit has arrested two suspects, aged 29 and 30, in connection with the tampering of essential water infrastructure belonging to the Department of Water and Sanitation.

The arrest operation was conducted on Thursday, 19 February 2026, in and around Seshego under the Capricorn District. The suspects are accused of stealing copper cables from a municipal borehole pump station located near the bridge in Seshego Zone 5 B.

According to police reports, the incident was initially reported on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, by an electrician employed by the Polokwane Municipality who had received information regarding the tampering of the borehole pump.

Following the report, members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit launched an investigation. The probe led to the apprehension of the two suspects at separate locations in the Seshego area on Thursday.

A subsequent investigation resulted in the recovery of a portion of the stolen copper cables at a local scrapyard. It is alleged that the suspects had sold the stolen goods to the scrapyard. The two individuals are in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon on charges related to the tampering of essential infrastructure.
