A coordinated, multi-provincial operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) has resulted in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of stolen property linked to a violent armed robbery at a local truck stop.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at a Truck Stop located within the Naboomspruit policing area, which falls under the Waterberg District. During the robbery, suspects allegedly hijacked vehicles and made off with two trailers carrying a high-value consignment of copper. It is further alleged that individuals were kidnapped during the commission of the crime.

Following the robbery, SAPS launched a cross-provincial manhunt, which led to the apprehension of five suspects. The operation also resulted in the recovery of the two stolen trailers, as well as a portion of the stolen copper consignment.

The five individuals are in police custody and are expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court in due course. They face charges related to hijacking, armed robbery, and kidnapping. Police investigations are ongoing.
