On Friday, 12 December 2025, a joint operation at a roadblock in Marabastad, Maokeng, resulted in the arrest of two men for drug-related offences.
At approximately 08:00, SAPS, in partnership with traffic authorities, the CPF, and the youth desk, conducted the operation. During the search of a stopped taxi, an undocumented male passenger was found carrying a box of noodles containing a hidden black plastic bag of suspected mandrax.
Police escorted the man to his residence, where a second male was located. A subsequent search of the premises yielded 16 additional suspected drug tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of R20,000.
Both suspects, aged 30 and 36, were arrested. They face charges of drug possession and contravening the Immigration Act, and are scheduled to appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate Court on Monday, 15 December 2025.
