In a targeted crime prevention operation, Durban Central police officers apprehended three suspects on Thursday, 11 December 2025, believed to be connected to a series of business and house robberies in and around the eThekwini District.
The breakthrough occurred along Dr Pixley KaSeme Street in the Durban Central Business District. Officers, acting on credible intelligence about a vehicle whose occupants were allegedly robbing people of their belongings, located and intercepted a matching car.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, along with laptops and cellphones suspected to be stolen. The three male occupants, aged between 18 and 23, were immediately taken into custody.

Preliminary police investigations have since connected the arrested individuals to several specific crimes. They are linked to the robbery of laptops and cellphones at a school in KwaMashu, the robbery of a teacher at a school in Ntuzuma, and a separate house robbery in KwaMakhutha.
The suspects are set to make their first court appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 December 2025, where they will face charges related to the possessions found and the robberies under investigation.
