A swift response by the Namakwa District Task Team on Tuesday led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R33,800.
The operation was initiated after police operationalized information regarding two male suspects travelling from Nababeep to Bergsig to collect drugs. The suspects were reported to be in a white Toyota Corolla.
Acting on the tip-off, police members swiftly responded and located the vehicle in the Waterkant area of Bergsig. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to evade arrest but were successfully intercepted by officers in Maarman Street, Bergsig.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of mandrax tablets concealed on the passenger side.

The two suspects, aged 24 and 25, were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs. They are expected to appear in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court soon.
