
Police in Limpopo have opened a rape case following a deeply distressing incident in which a 13-year-old boy is alleged to have sexually assaulted his 5-year-old sister at their family home.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday, 09 November 2025, at approximately 15:00, in the Mundzedzi village, situated within the Bandelierkop policing area of the Vhembe District.
According to police reports, the young victim disclosed to a parent that her older brother had allegedly called her into a room, where the assault then took place.
Following the disclosure, the 5-year-old girl was rushed to a local hospital for a medical examination. Medical personnel at the facility confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted.
A formal case of rape was subsequently registered at the Bandelierkop Police Station. The investigation has since been transferred to the specialized Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit based in Makhado for further investigation.
In accordance with the provisions of the Child Justice Act, the 13-year-old suspect has not been detained. He remains in the care of his parents pending an assessment by a probation officer.
