The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Giyani is investigating a case of rape following a disturbing incident in Makumeke village, outside Malamulele.
The alleged assault occurred on Saturday, 08 November 2025, at approximately 18:00. According to police, a 14-year-old teenager is accused of raping a six-year-old girl.
A case of rape was initially opened at the Malamulele Police Station and was immediately transferred to the specialised Giyani FCS Unit for a thorough investigation.
Police officials acted swiftly and successfully traced the 14-year-old suspect. He has since been released into the care of his parents pending an assessment by a probation officer, which is scheduled for tomorrow. Following this assessment, the suspect will be formally charged.
He is expected to make his first appearance before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
