A 42-year-old male suspect is scheduled to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 November 2025, on a charge of rape. This follows a traumatic incident in which a 77-year-old woman was allegedly raped at her home in Tsantsabela village, situated in the Elandskraal policing area under the Sekhukhune District.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 03 November 2025. The victim was asleep in her home when she was awakened at approximately 01:00 by the sound of someone breaking into the house. She then noticed a male suspect, who is known to her, inside the residence. The man allegedly grabbed her by the neck and proceeded to rape her.
Following the ordeal, the elderly victim managed to call for help from members of her community. The police were immediately notified and responded swiftly to the scene. Through their investigation, the suspect was traced and arrested shortly after the incident was reported.
