Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects following a fatal shooting that left two men dead and a third injured at the Ficksburg border post taxi rank on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 22:00 on Tuesday, 28 October 2025. According to reports, the victims were approached by two unknown African males. At the time, one victim was inside an office counting money, while the other two were standing outside.
The suspects initially engaged the men, asking about taxi destinations. The situation escalated when one of the suspects allegedly asked for a cigarette and then for money.
As the victim who had been inside the office was busy locking the door, he heard gunshots. Upon looking out, he witnessed the taller suspect shooting his two colleagues. The gunman then turned and shot him in the left thigh.
All three victims were rushed to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The two men shot outside the office were later declared dead.
The shooter is described as a tall African male, last seen wearing a black jacket and black jeans. He and his accomplice fled the scene in the direction of the Caledon River towards Lesotho.
