In a coordinated international operation, a 41-year-old United States citizen was arrested on Sunday, 26 October 2025, on a farm in the Kanoeneiland area. The arrest was effected by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in conjunction with officials from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
The operation was initiated after INTERPOL members engaged with local authorities, indicating that an American male wanted for a series of crimes—including kidnapping—was suspected to be in the vicinity of Kanoeneiland.
A dedicated SAPS team, comprising members from Kanoeneiland SAPS, the Upington Border Police, and the Upington High-Way Patrol, collaborated with INTERPOL officials to trace the suspect. The joint force successfully located and apprehended the 41-year-old at a local farm.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be extradited to the United States in the near future.
