The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, has welcomed the 25-year imprisonment sentence recently handed down to Molefi Benjamin Ramoholokoane (61) by the Potchefstroom Regional Court.
Ramoholokoane was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend, Maria Masego Fumba (37). The crime occurred at a residence on Cosmos Street, Kanana Extension in Ikageng.
According to evidence presented in court, police were summoned to the scene where they discovered Fumba lying in a pool of blood. She had sustained two stab wounds to her chest. Emergency and Medical Services (EMRS) personnel declared the victim dead at the scene.
The court further heard that the fatal ordeal unfolded in the presence of a witness, who positively identified Ramoholokoane as the perpetrator.
In a statement, Major General Asaneng commended the Investigating Officer, Constable Pholoso Mosenogi of the Ikageng Detectives, alongside the Prosecution, for their work in securing the lengthy sentence within a short period.
