The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Mopani District has reaffirmed its commitment to combating the proliferation of drugs in the province following a successful intelligence-driven operation.

The operation, which took place in the Tzaneen Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday, was conducted by members of the Mopani Tracking Team and a dedicated task force. It culminated in the arrest of a 27-year-old foreign male national on charges of dealing in drugs.

According to police reports, the team acted on specific intelligence regarding a man suspected of drug dealing. The information was swiftly operationalized, leading officers to the suspect at approximately 10:30 on October 8, 2025.

The operation resulted in the seizure of various types of drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash. The total estimated street value of the confiscated items is R20,000.

The suspect is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 10, 2025, to face formal charges of dealing in drugs.
