A 32-year-old man from Ionia Farm in the Ficksburg district has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 36-year-old wife.
The arrest followed an incident on Sunday, 5 October 2025, at approximately 11:00, when police were summoned to the farm after a complaint was lodged. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a woman inside a shack. The victim was found lying on the floor with an open wound on her left eye.
An iron rod, which was found lying on a nearby table and appeared to be bloody, was seized by police as an exhibit at the crime scene. The suspect was arrested on the spot.
The motive for the murder is currently unknown. The 32-year-old suspect has been charged with murder and is expected to make his first appearance before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
