A 39-year-old man has been apprehended by Sebayeng police in connection with a brutal attempted murder that occurred in Mmadiga Village, Ga-Dikgale this past weekend.
The incident took place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at approximately 17:00. Police were dispatched to the scene following a domestic-related complaint. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 25-year-old woman lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly accused the victim of infidelity, which sparked a heated argument. It is reported that during the altercation, the suspect severely assaulted the victim with an unknown object.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face a charge of attempted murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the violent act. She emphasised that domestic violence has no place in society, stating that partners should not resort to violence to solve problems but should instead seek assistance from professionals.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
